After a very long and fulfilling life, Elsie Blythe (née Hodges) died last week at the grand age of 98 years.

Yesterday a large number of the extended Blythe and Hodges family and friends farewelled Elsie at the Wesley Roskill Methodist Church in Auckland, and you can see some of the photos from her funeral by clicking on her photo below.

Last week we found an additional photo of Ian’s great uncle, David Kerr Haig, taken at Zeitoun Camp, Egypt in 1915. It was in a photo album belonging to Gordon Catto, David’s army signaller friend from Dunedin. The NZ National Army Museum have now put a copy of the whole of Gordon’s album on its website here. David died, aged 22, on the British hospital ship Somali near Gallipoli in July 1915, so any extra photos of him are particularly special to us.

Today we’ve added an electronic copy of the book we published in 2015 about Caroline’s great grandfather, John Bingley – click on the link below. Accessing this page requires the password – contact us if you would like it.

Currently, we’re also preparing a list of all the people we know in each of the photos (this wasn’t done in the original book).
